Overseas Americans Week, 2025
AARO was in Washington, D.C. the week of May 12, 2025 for Overseas Americans Week (OAW), our annual advocacy initiative on Capitol Hill.
A delegation of AARO Directors and officers consisting of President Doris Speer, Vice President/Advocacy Fred Einbinder, Banking Chair Paul Atkinson, Tax Committee member Laura Snyder, and U.S. Liaison Kathleen Davey Mistry met with representatives from the offices of our Senators and Representatives, as well as the U.S. Taxpayer Advocate, a Commissioner of the U.S. Election Assistance Commission, the Managing Director of the Overseas Citizens Services at the State Department, the Director of the Federal Voting Assistance Program, and others. As usual the Federation of American Women's Clubs Overseas (FAWCO) accompanied us. FAWCO was represented by longtime OAW participant, Johanna Dishongh (U.S. Liaison), and joined by Cathy Farnon.
Our mission is to ensure the voices of Americans abroad are heard. We raised key issues affecting overseas citizens, including voting rights, taxation, banking, and more.
