Exclusion from financial systems has become an increasingly serious problem facing millions of Americans resident abroad.
The most significant problem is the progressively difficult access to, and retention of, savings vehicles and retirement plans.
On July 19th , 2022, AARO sent a letter to each of the 22 members of the Senate Committee on Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions (HELP) to urge them to make suitable modifications to the Rise and Shine Act, recently approved by the HELP Committee, in order to reduce the financial exclusion that expats face in their retirement and investment accounts.
