Amicus Curiae Brief Filed on Behalf of AARO

Amicus curiae brief filed by the Brennan Center for Justice and Covington & Burling LLP on behalf of AARO, the U.S. Vote Foundation and more than 60 organizations, retired defense officials, military leaders, and diplomats with the U.S. Supreme Court in relation to Watson v. Republican National Committee, urging the Court to uphold state “grace periods” that allow timely mailed ballots to be counted if received after Election Day. A total of 30 states, the District of Columbia, and three U.S. territories allow grace periods. A ruling against Mississippi’s bipartisan grace period law could eliminate these protections, putting overseas voters at risk.
