Americans Helping Americans Abroad

Question 1: Taxation

Would you commit to working with Americans residing abroad to reform the current citizenship-based US tax system?

It is onerous to have to file twice, and I am open to working with Americans residing abroad to reform the current citizenship-based US tax system, and make it more equitable.

Question 2: Services

Will you support on-line access to government agencies and adequate funding for consular functions upon which Americans abroad rely?

Absolutely. Dealing with Social Security issues from abroad is extremely difficult. Trying to do it via phone does not work, as it is very costly, with long waits at high cost, and online access is very limited. Of course there should be adequate funding for consular services; consular offices are understaffed, and can be difficult finding someone who can help with a specific problem..

Question 3: Banking

Would you support an enforceable right for all US citizens to a US bank account so they can retain their US savings and retirement accounts and make and receive payments in the United States?

Absolutely. As an American citizen, there are reasons why one would wish to keep an account open in the U.S. To have that restricted makes no sense, especially when the real problem from money laundering comes not from Americans working abroad, but from financial institutions moving large amounts -- there should be a serious crackdown on banks and shadow banking institutions engaged in laundering, and not on people trying to keep an account open in the U.S., possibly for use when and if they return to the U.S.

Message from the Candidate:

I thank you for your interest in my campaign and your support. I want the USA to partner with other nations in building great projects that alleviate poverty at home, and around the world. Projects like the global Belt and Road Initiative, human space exploration, global transportation, and resource development in water, energy, and food. You can read about these projects in great detail on my website. I know there are many Americans living abroad with skills and leadership abilities who will play a critical role in this, and more will be living abroad as we work to eliminate poverty world wide. I want to make sure you can keep your rights of citizenship as you also live and work abroad.
