Banking & Investing for Americans Overseas
Moving abroad can create unexpected complications for Americans when it comes to banking and investing. Americans abroad may find that maintaining U.S. bank and brokerage accounts becomes more difficult. Some financial institutions restrict services for clients with foreign addresses, while others may limit access to certain investment products or even close accounts. At the same time, opening accounts abroad can create U.S. reporting requirements and complicate investment choices and cross-border financial planning.
Join AARO for a session featuring EuroAmerican Financial Advisors, focusing on the banking and investment challenges of overseas Americans. They will explore common issues with maintaining U.S. financial accounts, managing an investment portfolio from abroad, and navigating the complexities that arise when your financial life spans more than one country.
Representatives from State Department Federal Credit Union will also join us virtually to discuss banking options for Americans living overseas. They’ll share insights into the challenges Americans face maintaining U.S. bank accounts from abroad, the services available to AARO members, and practical considerations for managing U.S. banking needs while living overseas.
There will be an opportunity to ask questions.
